Medically, dandruff is a condition of the scalp that causes flakes of skin to appear due to fungal growth. Normally doctors prescribe gentle dandruff cleansers that can effectively treat the problem. However, in some cases these chemical products may fire back leading to a number of side effects including hair fall, excessive dryness, split ends etc. You won’t believe that some easily prepared products at home can do wonders for your hair nourishing them to the roots leaving dandruff at bay.
Here are 30 homemade tips to get rid of dandruff permanently quickly and get beautiful hair free of itching and irritation-
Neem Leaves Treatment-
Soak neem leaves in water and leave it overnight. Next morning wash your hair with the neem water. Do this on a regular basis for best results. Neem has antifungal and antibacterial properties making it highly effective in treating dandruff and related problems.
Baby oil can do wonders for dandruff. Simply massage baby oil into your scalp and cover your head with a hot towel. Leave it overnight. Next morning wash your hair, preferably with a herbal shampoo. Baby oil leaves your hair dandruff free.
Soak about 30- 35 fenugreek (meethi) seeds in water. Leave it overnight. Next morning make a paste of these slightly soft and bloated seeds. Apply this paste on your scalp and leave for at least 30 minutes. Wash it thoroughly by massaging the scalp. Use the paste continuously for 4-5 weeks to ensure best results.
Apple- Cider Vinegar-
Wash your hair normally like you do. Pour the apple cider vinegar on your hair and massage your scalp well. Leave it on for about 15- 20 minutes. Rinse your hair with water and allow it to dry. Follow this daily for about a week for best results.
Banana- Vinegar Treatment-
Mix a whole banana in 2 cups of vinegar and stir till a paste is ready. Apply this paste on your scalp and massage for about 5- 7 minutes. Leave it on for 20 minutes to an hour. Wash it thoroughly and rinse out the mixture completely. This paste not only cures dandruff but also prevents hair from further damage.
Aloe Vera Gel-
Rub Aloe Vera leaf on your scalp to apply the gel. Massage your scalp so that the gel reaches the roots of your scalp. Leave it for 15- 20 minutes. Wash thoroughly with shampoo. Being antifungal and antiseptic in nature, Aloe Vera cures the damage and treats the itchy wounds as well.
Hot Oil Treatment-
Heat up some olive oil. Take a piece of cotton dip it in the warm olive oil till it is soaked. Apply the oil on your scalp using the cotton. Massage well. Take a steamed towel and wrap it around your hair. Leave for some time. Wash your hair properly.
Tea Leaves Treatment-
Boil tea leaves with water. Filter the tea leaves using a metal or plastic sieve. Allow the water to cool down. Wash your hair with the filtered water. Use thrice in a week to get best results.

Gram Flour Treatment-
Take 4 tablespoons of gram flour (besan). Add a little curd to it to make a thick paste. Apply it on your scalp and hair. Leave it on for 20- 25 minutes. Wash well. This paste helps remove dirt and reduce dandruff from the scalp. You can add lemon juice to your paste for better results.
Prepare a mixture of henna, lemon juice, amla, tea powder, and few drops of hair oil in the curd. Leave it overnight. Next morning apply this paste on your scalp and leave for some time. Wash it properly to get rid of dandruff and damage.
Take 2 beaten eggs and mix them with water. Apply this mixture on your scalp and massage well. Leave it for 15- 20 minutes and rinse with slightly warm water. You can also apply egg directly to your scalp to cure dandruff.
Dampen your hair with water. Rub a tablespoon of baking soda on your scalp. Leave it for a few minutes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water, do not shampoo. Baking soda helps to fight the dandruff causing fungus. For best results, follow this on a regular basis.

Salt treatment effects best when your scalp is itchy. Take 2-3 tablespoons of salt. Dampen your hair slightly. Rub the salt on your scalp. Shampoo your hair immediately. Salt acts as a natural exfoliator and gets rid of extra oil and flakes, clearing the path for the shampoo to sink in completely.
Crush few cloves of garlic and rub it on your scalp. Massage your scalp well. To avoid the smell of garlic, you can add ginger and honey before applying. Wash as usual. Garlic has great antifungal potential and thus is an effective antidandruff.
Cut onions into big pieces and grind them into a paste. Apply this paste on your scalp and massage well. Leave it on for about 30 minutes and wash thoroughly. Onion juice kills the fungal bacteria and increases blood circulation to the scalp.
Mix one teaspoon of triphala powder in one glass of water. Boil this mixture for about 3 minutes. Once it cools, mix the solution with an equal portion of vinegar. Apply this on your scalp and leave it on for 30 minutes. Wash it well using a mild shampoo.

Take about 10- 15 soap nuts and grind them. Boil them in water for 15 minutes and soak them in water. Leave it overnight. Next morning strain the nuts and apply it on your scalp. Leave it for an hour and wash your hair using a mild shampoo.
Green Gram Paste-
Take green gram seeds and grind them into a fine powder. Add water to the powder to make a smooth paste. Apply this paste on your scalp. Leave it for an hour. Wash it well. Use it twice a week for best results.
Ginger- Beetroot Paste-
Crush ginger and beetroot in a mixer. Make a fine paste. Apply it on your scalp and massage for about 5 minutes. Wash it well with shampoo the next morning. Follow this technique every night for 4- 5 nights.
Squeeze out rosemary oil from its leaves. Mix this oil with vinegar. Apply this solution on your scalp. Massage well. Leave it on for 15- 20 minutes. Wash it thoroughly with lukewarm water. Rosemary leaves have anti-inflammatory and antifungal properties well suited to cure dandruff and itchiness.
Fresh lime Juice-

Tea Tree Oil-
Take 1 tablespoon of tea tree oil and mix it with water. Pour this mixture in a bottle. After your regular shampoo, spray this solution on your hair. Dab out the excessive liquid but do not rinse. Tea tree oil has fungicidal properties which provide an overall soothing effect.

Apple & Orange Juice-
