After all, you certainly want her to have the best of her time and make her feel doubly special. Prepare a checklist of all the wonders that you intend to include in the baby shower, right from the decoration to the food items being served. Here is the ultimate baby shower list that you must keep in mind while planning one.

Baby Shower

 10. Broccoli and Cranberry Salad

This would be a very colorful and healthy treat for all the guests including the guest of honour.  Whisk 1/3 cup of mayonnaise with 4tsp of cider vinegar and sugar in a medium bowl. Stir the mixture in broccoli florets with nicely diced yellow peppers and dried cranberries. Toss until all the contents become coated. Refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving.

9. Colour code

Stick to a color code. The way you are planning to do the décor could be monochromic as well as a blend of different colors. Choosing the color yellow would be gentle for it is a gender neutral color. Go with the clichéd blue or pink only if you are sure about the sex of the baby. If things are in your hand, then why not go by the rule book and make the event perfect. Everything, including the food items, the curtains, the balloons (if needed), the flower arrangements should be managed according to your decided color code then.

8. Baby Potato Bites

Keeping light food items on the menu is always a plus point when looking forward to baby showers. You have to cater to a lot of people and preparing elaborate dishes will just not be easy. One of very light food items that you could go with is baby potato bites. Preheat the oven to 400F and line a baking sheet with foil. Scoop out the flesh from each potato half, leaving at least 1/8 in. of flesh around sides and bottom, and set aside for another use. Place hollowed-out potatoes on separate sheet. Brush with oil then sprinkle with salt. Season with fresh pepper. Bake in centre of oven until fork-tender for about 25 to 30 minutes. Remove it from the oven.  Stir sour cream with capers. Fill potatoes with sour cream mixture, then top with smoked trout. Sprinkle with chives and sea salt.

Baby Shower

7. Balloons

Take a large bunch of helium balloons, again pertaining to the color code, and tie them in bunch. Stick them to one corner of the ceiling, in the room where the party is to be hosted. You could even use transparent confetti balloons for this purpose. Tie little sheets of colored paper to the lose threads of the balloons with messages written on it from every one present in the room. Be sure to have the messages written before the mother-to-be comes in the room. It would be a very overwhelming gesture for her.

Baby Shower

6. Flower Arrangements

Make the party space into little Paradise. Go for white lilies and ribbons attached to its stems. Or even better, you could opt for small sized wreaths made out of lilies and hang it all around. This would be something different from the simple bunches of flowers being put up in vases. Tiny clusters of blooming alyssum tied around the edges of the furniture would look Eden-like too. Be sure not to overdo with the flowers for that would result in making the room have a messy look.

Baby Shower

5. Mocktail and Soup

Make Sangria Berry Mocktail. Add orange juice with pomegranate and lime juices in a large pitcher and mix well. Stir the drink in frozen fruit and orange slices. Top with soda water and ice. It would be a cool and relaxing drink to enjoy for all. Put little umbrella straws or rather instead of an umbrella, there could be paper hearts in it. To add something heavy and more promising to the starters, you can also prepare chicken tortilla soup. That would be some appetizing delight for everyone.

Baby Shower

4. Ceramic Alphabet Dish

Buy some ceramic alphabet dishes, specifically to complete words like ‘congratulations’ or ‘happy baby’ and fill them with colorful candies inside. Place the dish alphabetically arranged as per the word on a center table or in the middle of the dining table. Do not go on repeating this for all the tables, lest its beauty and importance would just evade. Ofcourse those candies are meant to be eaten.

Baby Shower

3. Paper lanterns

If hosting it outside, in the garden, you have a beautiful decoration option to stick to. Go with colorful paper lanterns or criss cross-ribbed lanterns. There is absolutely no need to follow a color code. Infact it would be wiser to throw in as many colors as possible. Tie those lanterns to the tress and even the sheds of the house. Put it anywhere and everywhere.

Baby Shower

2. Cake

It need not be as magnificent and gigantic as a wedding cake. Even a small decent one would be just fine. Choose on the flavor and the size wisely. Make it a picture cake with the photo of a happy baby face on it. Sometimes even the simplest of efforts can turn out to be heartwarming. There is no way in the world that the one person that you intend to please here won’t be. Just be sure not to put her face next to the face of the anonymous baby. That might just turn into a bit awkward situation for you to deal with.

Baby Shower

1. Cushions and curtains

The cushions on the sofas could have different and interesting covers according to the theme of the baby shower. If sticking to the theme of Paradise, then make sure that the cushion covers have images of little angels on it. Apart from that, there could also be pictures of natural elements like the sun, stars and birds on it. The curtains need not have any images stuck upon it as it would give the whole ambiance a little-exaggerated look.  Drape a soothing color like mauve or yellow on the windows and that would just add an exquisite touch to your somber décor for the baby shower.

You are planning to surprise the mother-to-be as well as the guests. Keeping both the facts in mind, the baby shower that you’d throw would be just flawless.
