Top 12 Weird Mormon Beliefs

Religion is as vast a subject as Universe. Just like Universe, it expands, modifies and extinguishes in some parts each day. Every person on this Earth puts his faith into something. There are followers of Jesus Christ, Prophet, Hindu Gods, Satan, nature and then there are other followers who follow none.  Mormonism is a sub-sect of Christianity. Mormons are the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saint`s Day. They have their own set of bizarre beliefs which may seem odd to non-Mormons. The following are some of the weirdest Mormon beliefs-

12. Multiple Worlds and Gods

Mormons believe that we are not alone in this world. Just like our universe, plenty of other worlds exist. Each one has its own God. For the ones who are wondering what’s weird in this, read this- According to Mormons if you spend your life doing good deeds, you will become a God yourself one day. So basically, if you do not commit any sin and stay true to Mormonism you will get your own world to rule! Joseph Smith proclaimed the existence of multiple Gods. But he cleared that people should heed to just one God among all of them.

Weird Mormon Beliefs

11. Stay away from Water

This fear is just plain weird. Mormons feel that Satan has control over water. Rivers, oceans, lakes – everything takes you away from God and into the hands of Satan. This is why Mormons are taught to avoid swimming, boating or going anywhere near the water body. The doctrine mentions the dangers of water bodies-

Behold, I, the Lord, in the beginning blessed the waters; but in the last days, by the mouth of my servant John, I cursed the waters. Wherefore, the days will come that no flesh shall be safe upon the waters.

Weird Mormon Beliefs

10. Mormonism can change your skin color

Mormon Doctrine explains: “Cain was cursed with a dark skin; he became the father of the Negroes, and those sprits who are not worthy to receive the priesthood are born though his lineage. He became the first mortal to be cursed as a son of perdition.”-Page 102.

Until, 1978 Black people were banned from joining the priesthood in LDS church. Mormons believe that Black people are the descendants of Cain and are thus cursed. If they put their heart into following Mormonism, the God will bless them. With his blessings their skin color will turn into white. This belief created an outrage among non Mormons due to the racist nature of the statement. However, not many Mormons are aware of it.

Weird Mormon Beliefs

9. Tithing

Tithing can be called and offering in the name of God. Almost every person who believes in a higher power offers his gratitude in some form. Mormons donate 10% of their income each year to church. The best part is that the money is used up for good causes. Development of churches, Mormon books, shelters and other facilities. The money is collected and is sent to the highest authorities of the church. No matter how low the income of a Mormon is, he pays tithing amount with all his heart and faith in God. Only a full time paying member can enter a temple. The people who fail to pay tithe are not subjected to any punishment.

Weird Mormon Beliefs

8. God impregnated Virgin Mary

The story behind birth of Jesus Christ is taught differently in Christianity and Mormonism. Mormons believe that God like any other human being had intercourse with Virgin Mary and impregnated her with Jesus Christ. It is specified clearly in the Mormon doctrine.

“Christ was begotten by an immortal Father in the same way that mortal men are begotten by mortal fathers”

However, Christians still go by the Virgin Mary theory. Virgin Mary was impregnated by special powers of God and that there was no intercourse.

Weird Mormon Beliefs

7. Sunday is a holy day

Sunday is a Sabbath day. God created the world in six days. On the seventh day, he rested his body and soul. Mormons are not allowed to go out to work on a Sunday. It is a day meant for rejuvenation. Sports, movies, exercises are not allowed on a Sunday. Any activity that can distract a person from God should not be performed. The only people exempted from this rule are people employed in emergency services- hospitals, firefighters, police etc.

Weird Mormon Beliefs

6. God lives on a planet

Christianity believes that God lives in Heaven. But according to Mormon teachings, God resides in a planet, Kolob. It is the first creation of God and this is the reason for its proximity to Celestial Kingdom. Time moves slowly in Kolob, a day is equal to a thousand Earth years. It is at the center of the universe. Another interesting fact- Earth used to orbit Kolob, home to Gods. When Adam and Eve fell, God angered by the betrayal kicked Earth out of its orbit.

Weird Mormon Beliefs

5. Posthumous Baptism

Although it sounds weird but its true. Mormons believe that people can be baptized even after death. Hence, many relatives seek the help of church priests in order to baptize their dead relatives. It is never too late to seek the right path. God welcomes each follower even after they are dead. So, a living person gets baptized on behalf of the dead person.

Weird Mormon Beliefs

4. Multiple Heavens

Mormon teachings state the existence of not just one but three heavens. Celestial Kingdom, Terrestrial Kingdom and Telestial Kingdom are the three heavens. Celestial Kingdom is reserved for the God and true Mormon believers. If you tread by all the rules in doctrine and commit no sin, you might end up here after death. Children who die before the age of 8 automatically go to Celestial Kingdom as they are pure. Terrestrial Kingdom is next- it is for the people who followed Moses laws but faltered on the ones created by the founder- Joseph Smith. Telestial Kingdom is the lowest berth in the heavens. Mormons who didn’t follow any religious laws but didn’t commit a crime either go in this kingdom.

Weird Mormon Beliefs

3. Married even after Death

Even death can’t separate the Mormons from the bond of marriage. Mormons are taught that even after a death of a spouse they are considered married in heaven. In case of polygamous marriages, women in heaven share their husband. People have sex in heaven too, apparently plenty of it. In fact, the only role of women in heaven is to produce spirit children who will become Gods of other worlds! The gestation period is of nine months in heaven too. The rule of staying married in heaven doesn’t apply to Non-Mormons.

Weird Mormon Beliefs

2. Rules of Heaven

Just like Secret Seven had a password to enter in meetings, Mormons believe that secret handshakes and passwords exist in heaven too. Mormon believers are given passwords in Temple endowments. You can enter the heaven only after Joseph Smith`s permission. Once you are in heaven, you can visit only the lower heaven. If you are in Celestial Kingdom and your brother is down in Telestial, only you can go visit him.

Weird Mormon Beliefs

1. God: A body of flesh and blood

Mormons believe that God has a body like humans. He is tangible with blood running through his veins. He became a supreme body with divine soul by following a righteous path. It is this path that every Mormon must follow in order to attain highest level in heaven. The following lines in Doctrine prove this belief.

“The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s,” (Doctrine and Covenants 130:22). “Therefore we know that both the Father and the Son are in form and stature perfect men; each of them possesses a tangible body . . . of flesh and bones,” (Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p. 38). D&C 129:1-5.

  • Oh my gosh, most of theses are not true. Like, you really need to re-think mormonism. They don’t think satan controls water, and they aren’t scared of water. XD 11, 10, 9, and 2 are NOT EVEN CLOSE. Everything else is pretty true, including tithing, baptism for the death, and yes, god lives on a planet, other gods own planets, but you owning your own? talk to the misionaries. PLEASE. But living with your spouse forever is especially true.

    • If you righteous you go live with him not no other planet I believe in celestial God not of bodily form which is temptation theres seven levels of heaven three level of hell jesus walk on water why would he be scared of its satan scared of water especially when it’s holy

    • My one complaint is tithing 10%. This should not be mandatory for those having (enduring) extreme poverty. I am Christian, 10% tithe is the standard, i know this.

    • This comment section is divided between those challenging the church’s beliefs and those defending them. The challengers are not concerned with the inaccuracy of this website as it provides them with their intended entertainment. Defenders operate within an echo chamber, where they are urged to pray for truth but only rely on the church’s sources and overlook its flaws.

As a former member of the LDS church, I fully understand both sides. However, I do not believe it is right to poke fun at someone else’s religion without knowing anything about it, and I also do not believe it’s right to blindly follow something without thoroughly questioning it.

I was a devout follower, served a two-year mission, and felt the Holy Spirit many times. However, I have left the church. I do not believe in it. Members might read this and think that maybe my faith or my testimony might have not been strong enough, but I was a firm believer. I taught many families and told them I would rather die than deny the church’s truth.

While it would be difficult to summarize all my reasons for leaving the church in a single comment, I encourage both sides to be open-minded and respectful of one another.

Most of all, if any members of the church read this, I hope you will be brave enough to look at sources outside of the church and not only read them, but scrutinize them. The church discourages any outside material, but you can’t have the truth without understanding and questioning the church’s flaws. A former member of the church wrote a letter called the CES letter, one full of doubts and questions that were ignored by the church. Here, you will learn about the inaccuracies, inconsistencies, and flaws in the church’s history and gospel: https://cesletter.org/CES-Letter.pdf.

    • Jesus is waiting for you to turn away from the lies and sins of Mormonism. And seek the true Jesus. I was Mormon for 18 years and found truth. Joseph Smith made up this entire fairy tale and now millions of people will never get to heaven. Hell is very real. I pray you find the truth like I did. Only the Bible. Only Jesus. It is very simple. The Church of Jesus Christ is destroying lives and masking it to look like something pure and good. God hates Mormonism but deeply loves YOU!

  • The fact that Momonism contradicts the teaching of Christ and the law of Moses set forth by God tells me that they need to rethink their belief system. In the beginning God created the Heavens and Earth, the Bible states clearly that God resigns in Heaven not on a star trek planet Kolob. Marriage is between a man and a women it does not say plueural women, the Bible speaks a lot of pleural content and if it was meant to be more then one women then it would of been pleural such as Heavens. God looked around the Heavens and he was the only one. Jesus says where I am you shall be, if I am in heaven there you shall be. And the spirit of the Lord came upon Mary and she became pregnant, Not God came to Mary and had sex with her. The Mormon religion speaks blastephemies, and I have came to the conclusion that Jospeph Smith may have fabricated some of these things. When anything speaks in contrast to the Written Word of God then that is not of God!

    • “star trek planet Kolob” 😂🤣
Yeah, I’m a Christian and you have spoken right; amen! It’s just sad how people are brainwashed into believing these false “cult theories” and how bizarre these beliefs are, and how even more bizarre that they read from the KJV and the truth is there, right in front of them, clear as crystal, but they believe these false belief mumbo jumbo.

      • Every single thing on this article except for #1 is a lie. You should not believe a single thing that this idiot writes. He has ovi made all of this up.

        • Nope these are all the true beliefs of the Book of Mormon. Note he quotes scripture in the article. Most Mormons, sorry LDS, don’t believe these things anymore because teach dude that takes over as prophet keeps
Changing the religion to make it
More mainstream friendly, to get more people, to make more money. But these are the honest to goodness foundations of the religion. It would be like if Christians suddenly decided there were only five commandments and then started denying there were ever ten.

      • U ever hear of Constantine there is a real religion the way Jesus was a profit sent from God he was a devote jew he was not from a poor lineage yeah he was born in a manger cause there was no room at the inn he was married he did his first miracle at his wedding and he says from his mouth the law and the profits comes down to live love without judgement without selfishness without any reason but to be loved back to love ur brothers and sisters like u love urself that is Christianity true not the false path the sheep were led to believe today for the bride will return to the true path and be presented to him white and pure those who have ears to hear let him hear those that see let them see amen

    • Amen! Well stated. How many times does the Bible state “if any one adds or takes away from this book, his name will be blotted from the book of life”. Complete blasphemy! A religion founded less than 200 years ago. Similar for Jim Jones, how’s that coolaid taste? Lol

    • God does not live on Kolob, he lives close to it. Christianity contradicts Judaism in loads of places, not just Mormonism. Also you spelled blasphemies wrong.

    • Couldn’t have said this better myself. HOWEVER, we should always remember that although this is their doctrine, their time here is not yet up. We are called to give grace, to be kind and gentle…paving a way for them to come to know the God of the one and ONLY Bible.

    • Yes what you say is true- This website slanders our beliefs- we are members of the church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day. We are not afraid of water- the best way to tell you what we believe are the 13 articles of faith any questions other than that? Read the book of mormon- talk to the missionaries- pray about it-
1 We believe in God the Eternal Father and in His son Jesus Christ and In the Holy ghost- – There is only one God- he has a son- the holy ghost is the spirit of God that is inside all of us- he teaches you by promptings of feelings

2 we believe that men will be punished for their own sins and not for Adams transgressions– we believe that you are never punished for the sins of your parents or those around you- yes bad things happen to good people but it is not because of their fathers’ sins

3 We believe that through the atonement of Christ all mankind may be saved by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel- – we believe that when you follow the commandments of Christ to the best of your abilities, that you can enter into God’s presence- we are not perfect- no one is

4 we believe that the first principles and ordinances of the gospel are first faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, second repentance, third baptism by emersion for the remission of sins, and fourth the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost— We are christian- we have faith in our Lord, we believe in repentance, repentance requires an honest desire to change- we believe in baptism by emersion- going all the way under represents going under ground and being born again. you can be baptized after the age of 8- you are never too old, but you are only baptized once. Does this mean that you can’t make a mistake after you are baptized? NO of course not. We are all imperfect humans. repentance is key- we also believe in the Gift of the Holy Ghost being given to those after baptism by the priesthood the Holy Ghost helps to guide you through life

5 We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.– We believe that there are modern day prophets- this is one of the beliefs that have shaken some- we believe that they are called by the Priesthood that was restored in Joseph Smith’s time.

6 We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.– Once again- we believe in latter day prophets

7 We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth. — We believe that the prophet or other leaders of the church or even the members can receive personal revelation- we believe that only the prophet can receive revelation for the entire church though

8 We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.– We believe that the book of mormon is another testament of jesus christ- it doesn’t replace the bible, it accompanies it–

9 We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.- Once again- we believe in current revelation

10 We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory. — This one is self explanatory-

11 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.– once again, self explanatory– we don’t discriminate against any one people or any religion.

12 We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.– we believe that church and state are two different things, that we need to listen and follow laws of whatever country we are in

13We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.– we strive to be our best selves. We want to be able to enter into God’s presence, we want to be able to give him a hug and say we did our best.

we don’t believe that you need secret messages to enter heaven- we believe in saving ordinances- baptism, priesthood, endowments (temple ordinance) and temple marriage. we don’t believe that if you never have the opportunity, that you will be kept out. this is our purpose for the baptisms and other ordinances for the dead- we give every child of god an opportunity to accept the gospel on their own.

We also believe in 3 levels of exaltation- terestal, telestial, and celestial- it is not a oh i was perfect so i go to the place for perfect people, while my brother who used to bully me and never appologized is going to go to the terestal. Celectail is in the presence of God and Jesus Christ – Telestial is in the presence of the holy Ghost, and terestal is in the presence of those who want to teach. Think of it like class rooms- their are different grades- it doesn’t mean some people are better than others, it means that they are not ready yet- we give everyone the oppurtunity on both sides of the veil to accept Jesus as their Lord and Redeemer-

We do not believe in plural marriages- if your spouse dies, it is up to you if you would like to marry again- but only after they die- we do not believe in God impregnating Mary- Tithing is a good thing- it helps the church help those that are in need of help- I have seen it go towards a washing machine for an elderly couple who couldn’t afford one- I have seen it used for Church buildings as well

Keep in mind that websites like this are trying to slander out beliefs- ask a member about questions you have- they will be happy to answer them- If you are seeking out an argument- then don’t bother- we don’t want to tell you why we are right or wrong, but we will provide whatever evidence we can to help you understand.

Know that we believe most everything you do.

    • I definitely totally understand and agree with all you have said lve been brought up in the church according to the Bible only,l am a Christian.lve been going to the Norman church now for 4+months,with friends,l am totally shocked with all the WEIRD RULES,It’s a Religion not Christianity, not once have l heard a proper church service, sermon from the Bible.only the Sacrament,we call it Holy Communioun, and they have talks, and men and womens group after that, this is weird for me,and all the restrictions that lve just read from underware,no sex,not allowed to swim, fish, boating, hair ,clothes, all theses rules are not Christianity l am Baptise, and we dress Properly etc,bit going to all these extremes has really disgusted me,and this Joseph Smith, common name, had 34 wife’s,that is totally disgusting inappropriate and definitely not Biblical,my grandfather was a minister,my parents, myself, and my children were all brought up in the Christian faith,l am finding the belief system very weird, and inaccurate, lve preached myself many times in the Baptist church and we do not believe in this J Smith, and he’d not mentioned in the Bible, and all these Star trek planets is ridiculous.and the Holy Spirit is not a Ghost,One God the father,God the Son,and God the Holy Spirit are 3 in one Unity.and all the rules about giving do much money to make the Norman more richer and powerfull is wrong, and you do not get to heaven through service, only way I’d Salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord, then Baptist, there is So much wrong in this Morman organisation,as lve just read, not a Church,it is dysfunctional.in alot of ways and goes against the Bible.and what Jesus taught us,not this false men,J Smith, who Fornicated with 34 women,is not what Jesus Christ wanted man to do.All this just totally Sickens me.l was told to wear a dress with sleeves and lm having a Cealiac outbreak on my skin, very serve and had to suffer with the sleeves, itching badly,in a long dress,on a very Hot day it was awful.with respect, common decency l do know what is appropriate to wear to church, but the Norman church goes overboard, this drives people away,it sounds like an occult.not Christianity.lm thinking of going back to my Baptist church as l am thirsty for the word of God,and my church preaches the word of God,and Christian singing prayer, and community the whole church is in unity with Jesus Christ this is the way the truth and the light,Amen.
I find that no one speaks of having strong faith in God,and his grace, they speak of Service, knowledge that is not going to get them to Heaven,or all the star ⭐ treck planets they believe in and you can’t go in the temple if your not a member of this organisation,Jesus loves all of us and wants us All to come to him by faith not works alone, rules, racists, inputs like no hot drinks tea, coffee well l like my tea and coffee that is not a sin.l do not drink smoke or take drugs and don’t gamble, and do not Fornicate around.l have a good heart and this is what Jesus Christ wanted, not rules and regulations and the dead can be baptized never heard of this that’s weird, only by faith alone can you enter the kingdom of Heaven.not the 🌟 treck planets which lve never heard,of.weird, crazy ideals,l want to thankyou very much for what you wrote and shared.l agree with all you’ve said, and l could keep going on, especially about Christianity verses the Norman organisation this is what they are calling themselves they are brain washing millions, this is so wrong they want a powerful church in Numbers only, and members have to have a registered membership, numbers .wrong again Jesus said come unto me all who seek me,not with all there Weird rules and heavy regulations, and they believe in marriage, many wife’s, adultery, fornication,is not what the Bible teaches us.Jesus Christ is against this.amen,The Bible has the 10 Commandments that we have to obey, and the 7deadly sins are there from the evil one.
The Fruits of the Holy Spirit are gifts and we should all appreciate them no 1Love,peace joy and more.k never hear a Church service, and no qualified ministers, they haven’t studied thelogy, and don’t preach in the Norman church. This is what lm yearning for to have my cup filled again, not just sacrament quick prayer and old hymes that some are depressing, and draining, the people are lovely, but totally misguided brainwashed sadly.
I do not fathom how this Organisation can take alot of money from people and still want more,to make them more powerfull said in there own words,my father always taught me to make sure l got all my facts straight before opening my mouth llearnt that from a young age,4months lve see and learnt alot, and l don’t like it,this not the teachings of Jesus Christ our Saviour.the truth is in the Holy Bible only.amen.Praise the Lord Jesus Christ the one and only Saviour.l got weird looks when I said this at the Norman Church, that is wrong.their attitude, towards praising God 🙏 and our Lord Jesus Christ.
Thankyou for sharing God Bless you always, Miriam 😊🌟😊

    • We’ll that’s easy, 😄😁how about we use your own modern prophet inspired ,scriptures and statements only …then:- let’s start with “the gospel topics essays “…. Fire away 😳😳

  • Here’s the reality, the mormon faith, like the Christian faith, has different sects, churches who believe different things or versions within their own religion. I see where mormons read this and are aghast and say ‘That’s not true! It’s not real, that’s not what we believe!’ But unfortunately, in the mormon religion out IS a part of the beliefs. You’re church or group may not recognize or practice or preach those things, but others may and do. I personally am not a mormon and would never ever be one. I can’t reconcile their beliefs (any of them on any level) with my own, but I respect you and believe in the right that you have to believe and worship as you choose. But please be aware that though you do not practice these beliefs in YOUR church, they are in fact beliefs of the mormon religion. That’s why it is important for all of us to take the time to learn about the very faiths we follow and choose to live our lives by, as well as others that we may not. We should all have a healthy understanding and respect of each other’s cultures, beliefs, e.t.c.

  • The Church Of Jesus Christ never was and is not a cult. People applied this label to us because they were scared of the early saints.

  • Former Mormon here. I left the church because I do not agree with a lot of its teachings, but I used to be a devout member and served a 2-year mission. I thought I might be able to help shine a light on a few things.

    11. Where did you get the idea that Mormons are afraid of water? That’s hilarious! I went on plenty of boating trips as a kid, and Mormons are firm believers in baptism by submersion….
    10. Mormons don’t believe that ‘Mormonism’ can change your skin color. They don’t believe that Cain is ‘father of the negroes,’ and I’m not sure what you mean by page 102 of “Mormon Doctrine.” However, the Book of Mormon does teach that God cursed a wicked population with black skin so that they became “less delightsome” (2 Nephi 5:21). As a kid, I was taught that this curse had nothing to do with race; it’s alleged purpose was to make the nephites and lamanites more distinguishable (even though the verse says nothing about this). Supposedly, this scripture in no way represents the nature or the origin of black people, but I always thought it was very weird and racist…it describes black skin as a curse, and “less delightsome?” Please, Mormons, do explain yourselves.
    8. I was always taught that Mary’s impregnation was done without intercourse…I’ve never heard of anyone thinking that God impregnated Mary in a sexual way, though I wouldn’t be surprised if some people believe it.
    6. Mormons do not believe God lives on Kolob. They believe he lives in the highest degree of heaven known as the Celestial Kingdom (see #4 on multiple heavens). Kolob is simply the star that is nearest to God’s throne. To my knowledge, it has no further significance to the Mormons.
    2. “You can enter the heaven only after Joseph Smith`s permission.” This is 100% false. Mormons believe that God will carry out their final judgement, not Joseph Smith.

I hope this was helpful! There are a few other inaccuracies, but none worth mentioning. The rest of your points are mostly true.

  • Former member of the church here. Just to clarify a few things:
(#11) Mormons firmly believe in baptism by submersion, so it is untrue that they fear water or think it’s evil. (#10) They do not believe that mormonism can change your skin color, and they do not believe that Cain is father of all black people. They do, however, believe that God “cursed” a small population with black skin, which I have always thought to be very strange (2 Nephi 5:21). (#8) This is my first time hearing this. I was always taught that Mary’s impregnation was done without intercourse. (#6) Mormons believe that God resides in the highest degree of heaven known as the celestial kingdom. Kolob is simply the star that is nearest to God’s throne. (#2) “You can enter heaven only [with] Joseph Smith`s permission.” This is not true; Mormons believe that God is the one who will judge us in the afterlife (not Joseph Smith).

  • Why people follow any religion is beyond me. I study various religions, and follow or believe in none. If there is a God, it’s not what we think. God would be beyond human fathom or comprehension. Religion has too many unanswered questions for me to want to follow.

  • Why get your information off of the internet from a person who isn’t even part of the church they criticize?
Please visit churchofjesuschrist.org and get your information from there.
Whether or not you still believe that we are crazy after reading there, just know that it is the best source of information about us.
What better way to understand us then through a direct observation?

    • churchofjesuschrist.org is a great resource for blind followers that already believe in the church or non-members who are curious about what the church teaches. However, it is a terrible resource if you want to learn the truth about the inconsistencies and falsities that are taught in the church. For that, I would recommend the CES Letter

  • 🤔 excellent… umm how do you feel about the false prophecies by J.S. And. Brigham young on other civilizations on Mars, Mercury and the Moon .. IE. quakers on the moon .?????False Prophecies and false prophets. Your in a cult😳😳😳😳😳

  • It’s all fiction. Smith was a grifter and con man. The most dangerous things humankind ever invented are god(s) and religions! Apostasy will get anyone closer to love, compassion and gratitude!

  • I was raised mormon and I can attest that this list is correct. I was definitely taught that satan controlled the waters and was never allowed to go swimming on Sunday. Other days were ok for some reason. The missionaries were never allowed to go in or near the ocean, even on their P day because they were so righteous that satan was always trying to destroy them.
I was taught that I would be sealed to my husband for eternity and if we were righteous enough and raised a large righteous earthly family, that we would have our own planet in the afterlife. Obviously, we would need plural wives to populate planet but I shouldn’t worry about sharing my husband because I would be the honored first wife. Interestingly enough, the mormon church just started back tracking on this in 2021.
God lives on Kolab and his name is actually Elohim.
Just to add a couple of bizarre beliefs that you missed:
Mormons don’t really preach about hell. The worst of the worse will go to outer darkness. It’s reserved for people like Hitler and me, since I was given the gospel but became an apostate.
Mormons wear holy underwear everyday called garments that are supposed to protect them from harm, including satan and water
If you like the idea of eternal families, I recommend that you spend your current lifetime building relationships with the one you have instead of focusing on an unknown that is supposed to happen after death. Most mormons are too busy focusing on maintaining their “mansion on high” to focus on what they have here and now. If you are thinking of joining the mormon church, I would advise you to look into any and all information provided on the internet, particularly the CES letter:
missionaries will tell you not to do your research and just pray if the church is true. Go ahead a pray, but get all the facts first.
This is the same advice I would give anyone who is thinking of leaving the mormon church as well. There is a whole community of exmormons that have left the church living full and happy lives without guilt or shame and we want you to join us.

    • This was clearly written by a troll who was not raised Mormon. They do not preach that Satan controls the waters, and while their ancestors practiced polygamy, modern Mormons do not, unless you are referring to the FLDS church or some other “Mormon” denomination. Unlike you, I was actually raised Mormon and became inactive, but anyone who is unfamiliar with the church’s teachings could do like a 2-second google search and see that you are blatantly lying.

Trust me, I am no defender of the LDS church, but it bothers me when people pretend to be something that they are not.

Here is what the church actually teaches: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/
And here is what accurately points out the church’s inaccuracies: https://cesletter.org/CES-Letter.pdf

  • Yes, i have heard that 10 is true. Mormons today deny that it was true in their history. Just like they are now denying that they practiced polygamy in their history. They are now doing all they can today to distance themselves from the stench of them but they were true at one time. Don’t let them tell you it wasn’t and it isn’t.
