This is why it is necessary to know your body and the nutrients it needs to stay hydrated and moisturized. Some of these ingredients are aloe vera, lactic acid, and hyaluronic acid.
4. Limit your shower time
Spending too much time in the shower can drain your body’s moisture which isn’t good for your skin. This is why it is a must to limit or restrict your bath time and to use lukewarm water than hot to avoid losing moisture.
5. Exfoliate regularly
When there is an excessive accumulation of dead skin, it will be difficult for the moisture to penetrate inside your skin; that is why it is advisable to exfoliate regularly to help remove the dead skin cells from your body. A mild exfoliating mask or scrub is enough to rehydrate and nourish your skin.
6. Reduce the use of soap
Stay away from using soaps that may consist of alcohol, perfume or deodorant because these kinds of soap may contain unpleasant chemicals which may remove natural oils and moisture from our skin. It is recommended to use a milder soap to our skin, such as gentle soap-free cleansers, for example.
7. Colloidal oatmeal bath
Colloidal oatmeal contains antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that are healthy for our skin. Grab the oatmeal in your kitchen and make an oatmeal bath; this doesn’t only help alleviate the itchiness of the skin, it can smoothen and moisturize the skin, as well as give you a glowing effect.
8. Use honey
A natural moisturizer that you can find in the kitchen doesn’t only replenish moisture and purifies the skin, it also contains antibacterial materials that are healthy for our skin. You can use a raw honey as a DIY face mask and let it rest on your face for about 30 minutes before rinsing it using lukewarm water. This technique may help the skin glow and may also alleviate the patchiness and dryness of the skin. The good thing is, the use of honey is not only limited to our face. You can also apply raw honey to the dry areas of your body, such as knees and elbows.
